Paisley, Ian Richard Kyle

British politician and church minister

Mentioned in The Fletcher Memorial Home from The Final Cut.

Ian Paisley is the founder of Free Presbyterian Church of Ulster and the leader of Democratic Unionist Party. He is one of the most vocal critics of Catholic church in the UK.

Paisley has repeatedly acted controversially and he caused public outcry many times. For example, as a member of the European Parliament he called Pope John Paul II. the Antichrist during his visit of the institution.

In the 1980’s he acted against the Anglo-Irish agreements about Northern Ireland and he is the founder of the „Ulster Says No“ initiative. At the time he often opposed Margaret Thatcher in the British Parliament.
