Did you know that Eric Clapton and Roger Waters worked together on the soundtrack for John Hurt’s Hit? That is where their later cooperation on Waters’ Pros and Cons Of Hitch Hiking album originated. Did you know that in an episode of The Simpsons Ned Flanders hallucinates after taking a drug and sees the marching hammers from The Wall? Did you know that in the Final Cut video EP Roger Waters is seen talking to a psychologist, whose name consists of the surnames of the director and producer of The Wall movie (A. Parker-Marshall)?

Royal Fusiliers (City of London Regiment)

Mentioned in When The Tigers Broke Free

The Royal Fusiliers (City Of London Regiment) is one of the oldest military units in the world. Officially it came into being as soon as in 1685 by merging the two original units whose task was to defend London.
Since then, the regiment has taken part in almost all of the wars Britain played some role in, such as the American Revolutionary War, the Napoleonic Wars and of course both World Wars.
Probably the most important task of the regiment during WWII was the defence of the Allies’ bridgehead during the Anzio landing, which was part of the WWII Italian Campaign, against the odds of German Tiger I tanks. The Royal Fusiliers, who had almost no mechanisation, resisted the odds and despite large casualties maintained the bridgehead, which made it possible for the Allies to finish the landing. One of the soldiers who died in the battle was Eric Fletcher Waters, father of Roger Waters.
