Samson, Polly

Writer, poet, journalist

Polly Samson, born April 29 1962 in London, is a British journalist, writer and poet. In 1994 she married David Gilmour during the Division Bell tour. They have three children, Joe, Gabriel and Romany.

She is the author of three books – Lying in Bed, Out of the Picture and Perfect Lives.

Polly is credited as co-author of the lyrics of six songs from Division Bell. As a lyricist she also contributed to Gilmour’s solo album On An Island. On the album she plays the keyboard in some of the songs and she provides some backing vocals, most notably in Smile. As a backing vocalist and keyboardist she performed along Gilmour in Jools Holland Show.
