Did you know that the song Mihalis on one of David Gilmour’s solo albums is named after a boat bought by David in Greece? Mihalis is Greek for Michael. Did you know that the song Have A Cigar from the Wish You Were Here album is sung by Roy Harper of HQ? Did you know that the Delicate Sound of Thunder album was the first pop music record ever to be brought to the outer space (by a Soviet Soyuz spaceship)?

Tiger I

Mentioned in When Tigers Broke Free

Tiger is a colloquial name of the German Panzerkampfwagen VI Ausf. E Tiger I. tank. Tiger I was later succeeded by Tiger II (King Tiger).

The tank was developed in 1942 as a heavy assault battle tank. The German army used it until its capitulation in the spring of 1945.

Tiger was a killing machine. Although especially the first series suffered from mechanical defects, some of the tank units had over 10:1 ratio of destroyed Allied tanks to own casualties.
